Summer Marsh Cleanup!
Our marsh cleanup is back and bigger than ever!
Saturday June 22nd, we’re hitting the marsh again and inviting the entire community to come out and help us clean up left-behind waste that greatly impacts the marsh ecosystem. Not only is the trash and pet waste detrimental to humans' enjoyment of the marsh, but it also affects the local wildlife that is sensitive to the waste.
While we're out there, keep your eyes peeled because we’re bringing back the painted rock hunt! Volunteers can win amazing prizes from local businesses by finding painted rocks hiding in the marsh as we go along and clean. We'll have prizes from:
MEETING INSTRUCTIONS:
The event will begin at 10:30AM. We will have a check-in station at the beginning of trail near the Interpretive Center parking lot on South G St, so head there first. There, you can sign in, pick up supplies, have morning refreshments and start your scavenger hunt! We will also have two other stations set up elsewhere in the marsh for you to drop off waste you have collected. All waste must be dropped off by 12:00PM the latest!
As always, we provide the cleaning supplies, but we also encourage everyone to bring their own reusable supplies (such as gloves) to try to keep the use of non-recycle supplies to a minimum. The less plastic gloves and bags we use, the better! This cleanup we will be upcycling used malt bags donated by Redwood Curtain!
Be sure to subscribe to our email list and follow us here on Facebook to get the latest updates on the event!
*All prizes are redeemed at our store. Two prizes per party limit.
